"To know God and to make Him known"
Jon and Elin both came to Youth With A Mission in Kona, when they were 19 years old. What was meant to be a 6 month Discipleship Training School (DTS), learning about God and doing a 2 month outreach in Asia, turned into a life long call to missions. They were married in August 2004 in Kona.
Jon’s calling to missions came while serving in an orphanage in Taiwan on his DTS outreach. Since that time he has led more than 10 outreach teams around the world working mainly with Children at Risk. Jon serves on the DTS Leadership Team in Kona, this team gives oversight to more than 15 DTS’s each year. From these DTS’s, 100’s of staff and students are sent on outreaches to developing nations around the world.
Elin has a huge heart for the hurting in our world. She believes compassion is about love in action. While leading a team in Cambodia in 2003, she fell in love with the street kids there. She also quickly realized the poor nutrition and lack of education in the developing world. This has led Elin to pursue a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She is looking forward to using this knowledge to teach and serve those without access to basic healthcare in the world.
Elin's is also activily involved in mentoring and training the DTS staff girls on the YWAM campus.
